Field Notes from Elsewhere is a visual and conceptual exploration of doodles as living forms.
I have doodled for as long as I can remember. My father was a talented artist, and drawing was simply part of the atmosphere I grew up in. Much of my doodling happens while listening to music or watching television at night. These are not sketches toward finished work. I am not striving for mastery over a medium; I am letting the pen move, following instinct rather than outcome.
What begins as instinctive line work, drawn in quiet moments without intention or outcome, evolves into something dimensional. These images are not designed to be perfect. They are fragments of thought, glimpses of imagined creatures, and impressions that existed before language.
This collection follows that transformation.
Created from original hand-drawn doodles and later expanded through digital processes, each piece holds a dialogue between the immediate and the constructed. The line remains the origin, while the adapted form introduces depth, texture, and presence. The result is a body of work that feels both spontaneous and fully realized.
Rather than replacing traditional methods, technology is used here as an extension. Each image is refined until it aligns with the original intent, while allowing space for unexpected directions that add character and complexity.
What emerges are figures that feel almost tangible. Not just drawings, but small beings. Playful, strange, and quietly expressive.
This book brings together those explorations into a cohesive visual narrative. It reflects a way of working that values intuition, process, and evolution over fixed outcomes.
